Product waitlists and automatic availability emails for WooCommerce.

== Description ==

Install the Free plugin and WooCommerce first. Pro is a separate add-on. Back up your store and test stock alerts with your own mail transport before use.

Free provides product and variation requests, guest subscriptions, email confirmation, automatic background availability emails, cancellation, account controls, CSV export, diagnostics and native WordPress privacy tools. There are no commercial quotas on Free subscriptions.

Pro adds stock budgets, waves, scheduled campaigns and quiet hours, recurring requests, a single optional reminder, constrained coupons, authorized CSV import, category rules, estimates and paid item associations net of refunds.

Alerts do not reserve inventory. Mailer acceptance does not prove inbox delivery. Revenue association does not prove that an email caused a purchase.

== Installation ==

1. Install and activate WooCommerce.
2. Upload and activate hs-back-in-stock.
3. Open HookSpark > Back in Stock and review email confirmation, request limits and retention. Publish and select a WordPress privacy policy.
4. Test an unavailable product, confirm the request, then restore its stock. Verify Action Scheduler and the destination inbox using your own mail provider.
5. Optionally install hs-back-in-stock-pro for Premium controls.

While the Free edition is distributed directly by HookSpark, download a newer Free ZIP from the product page and use Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin to replace the installed version. Back up and test first. Automatic Free updates are not provided by this direct-download channel yet; the later WordPress.org submission will have its own announced update path.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Does Free require an account or license key? =
No. Free works locally. Premium keys govern commercial updates, not customer runtime or data ownership.

= How do I update the directly downloaded Free edition? =
Download the newer Free ZIP from HookSpark and replace the installed plugin through WordPress. Keep the same plugin folder and back up first. Do not expect automatic Free updates until an update channel is explicitly announced.

= Are items reserved for notified customers? =
No. Inventory is checked before sending and can change before the customer purchases.

= Can I use a custom product layout? =
Use [hs_back_in_stock] in a product context or [hs_back_in_stock id="123"]. A dynamic stock alert block is also provided. Each builder and modern variation selector must be tested with the installed versions before claiming compatibility.

= How are emails delivered? =
The store's WooCommerce mailer sends HTML or plain text emails through its configured transport. Configure a transactional mail service or SMTP plugin independently. Accepted means that transport accepted the request; delivery, bounces and inbox placement require provider verification.

= What data is stored? =
Email, requested product, state, dates and request source are stored in product-owned tables. Confirmation and cancellation tokens are hashed. Native personal-data export and erasure are supported. Default retention is 7 days for unconfirmed requests, 90 days for closed requests/logs and 365 days for active requests.

= Does Pro send data to external services? =
A merchant may configure an optional signed public HTTPS webhook. Payloads contain event and product/request identifiers, not subscriber email addresses. No webhook is enabled by default. Commercial licensing uses the existing HookSpark license client.

= What happens when Pro is deactivated? =
Premium campaigns pause, data remains and Free subscriptions continue. Reactivate Pro and review paused campaigns before resuming.

= What happens when Free is uninstalled? =
Data is retained unless the administrator explicitly enabled delete-on-uninstall beforehand. With that option enabled, owned tables, settings and product metadata are removed. Existing WooCommerce coupons remain ordinary WooCommerce coupons until their expiry.

* 2026-10-10: Updated the packaged compatibility documentation after the 9–10 October checks. Selected paths checked with Elementor Free 4.3.4 and Pro 4.3.1, WordPress 7.1.3, WooCommerce 11.1.0 and PHP 8.2.29. Free and Pro stock forms were checked in the Pro single-product widget and Elementor Free Shortcode path. An out-of-stock variation showed one form; an available selection hid it. Free and recurring Pro subscriptions persisted in the local lab. Use a published privacy page and consent. Delivery, restock campaigns, Divi and specific caching plugins require their own checks. Details: https://hookspark.dev/back-in-stock/#compatibility
* Render stock subscription forms in Elementor Pro Single Product Add to Cart without duplicating native variation forms.
* Selected local checks: Elementor Free 4.3.4 and Pro 4.3.1, WordPress 7.1.3, WooCommerce 11.1.0, PHP 8.2.29. See https://hookspark.dev/back-in-stock/#compatibility for tested paths and limits.

* Add optional WordPress Abilities/MCP access: read supported configuration and prepare validated proposals for same-user browser approval.
* Reuse one HookSpark AI access switch and review screen across installed plugins.
* Configuration changes are saved only after human approval; proposals expire after 15 minutes.

* 2026-10-06: Documented selected Astra and WPML/WCML compatibility checks. See the compatibility notes at https://hookspark.dev/back-in-stock/#compatibility. Scope is limited to the recorded versions and scenarios; no universal compatibility certification. This package update documents testing and preserves the functional fixes listed in earlier entries.
