Variations and overlapping rules
There is no general “last rule wins” shortcut. Every applicable independent rule must be satisfied.
Require six of each variation
Select the variable parent in the individual-product scope and set a minimum of 6. A cart containing three small and three medium shirts does not satisfy six per variation. Each selected variation is evaluated separately.
Require six across sizes
- Select the variable parent in the rule editor.
- Use Combine this product’s variations (“Somma le varianti di questo prodotto”).
- Review the resulting combined catalog selection and set a minimum of 6.
- Test three small plus three medium units. The combined rule alone should accept the total of six; any separate per-variation rule still applies.
Make a specific variation different
Create an individual rule for that variation. If it must replace a parent rule, choose the exact parent rule in the replacement selector. Leaving “None” keeps all inherited rules. Replacement does not disable unrelated group or cart rules.
Understand overlapping constraints

The editor checks matching scopes for incompatible limits. Different catalog groups can overlap in ways that require a real cart test. An unsaved preview is not a universal conflict audit.
Recover from an unexpected restriction
Find all active rules covering that product, parent, group, customer and cart. Temporarily disable suspect rules on a test site, saving each change, to isolate the restriction. Prefer fixing the scope over adding another rule that attempts to cancel it.
