HS Dynamic Pricing & Discount Rules · 0.1.0-alpha.3
BOGO, 3 for 2 and the second item
Configure buy X, discount Y offers and understand repeat behavior and averaged line prices.
Create a repeating 3 for 2
- Select a product priced 20.
- Choose Buy X, discount Y, Percentage off, value 100.
- Set the buy quantity to 2 and discounted quantity to 1. Enable repetition.
- Save and activate. Add all 3 items to the cart yourself.
Expect 40 for 3 items and 80 for 6. This same-selection BOGO type discounts items already in the cart. To offer a different product or add an automatic gift, use Buy A, get B as explained below.
Second item at half price
Set buy 1, discount 1 and 50%. Two items priced 30 cost 45. With repetition enabled, four cost 90; with repetition disabled, only one pair receives the offer, so four cost 105.
Which units are discounted?
The engine discounts the cheapest eligible units in the chosen quantity group. You can use a percentage, fixed reduction or target unit price. Exclusions and count scope apply before the promotion is calculated.
More BOGO recipes on €20 units
- Buy 1, discount 1, 100%: 2 units total €20; with repeat on, 4 total €40; with repeat off, 4 total €60.
- Buy 2, discount 1, Amount off 5: 3 units total €55. The €5 reduction applies to one reward unit.
- Buy 2, discount 1, Set unit price 5: 3 units total €45. One reward costs €5 and two remain €20.
- Buy 2, discount 2, 100%: 4 units total €40; with repeat on, 8 total €80.
Repeat off limits one reward group per quantity group, not once per customer forever. Per-line counting can reward each qualifying line; parent counting combines that parent’s variations. See variation examples and unequal prices.
Read the line total
BOGO savings are distributed over the line. The displayed unit amount may be a rounded average. For 3 items totaling 40, an average 13.33 is a display value; the actual line remains 40. In Cart/Checkout Blocks the rounded average is labelled explicitly and promotion savings are calculated from the whole line, before coupons.
Test and troubleshoot
Test incomplete groups, one full group and two groups, with repetition on and off. For same-selection BOGO, add the full group yourself. For automatic gifts, check the Buy A, get B configuration, stock and eligibility. Check cart, checkout and saved order; do not infer the total by multiplying a displayed rounded average.
Buy A, get B and automatic gifts
- Choose Buy A, get B. Select the products that receive the reward and the separate products that count toward its trigger.
- For two gift boxes that unlock one ribbon, count the boxes as trigger products and select the ribbon as the reward. Set buy quantity 2 and reward quantity 1.
- To insert the ribbon automatically, enable the automatic-gift option and choose its product or fixed variation. Automatic gifts require a full discount.
- Save and test: two €20 boxes should produce one €0 ribbon and a €40 total. Reducing boxes to one removes the ribbon. Repeating the offer allows four boxes to receive two ribbons.
Stock and purchase limits still apply. A shopper can remove an automatic gift; it is not repeatedly forced back into the cart. Other promotions and the global strategy can affect eligibility. Test the final order before using the rule in a live store.
