Choose and validate fields
Development alpha 0.1.0-alpha.1 · Updated 20 September 2026
Select a field type
Select Add field to open the field library. Each tile has an icon, a name and a short explanation. Selecting a tile creates that field directly; Cancel or Escape closes the library without adding a field. Pro field tiles appear when the Pro extension is active.
Expand a field to edit its content. Pricing and visibility controls are grouped into expandable sections. For visual fields, open Appearance to choose responsive cards or a vertical list. Use Help text below this field for instructions customers need before choosing. It is displayed as plain text, not executable HTML.
For radio buttons, dropdowns, color swatches and image choices, Preselected choice sets an initial selection. Let the customer choose keeps the field empty. Hidden conditional fields are still cleared; defaults are not silently restored after the customer changes a choice. To remove a default choice, first remove or change its default assignment.
The draft preview is above the field list. Select a product or variation and preview the draft before saving; draft changes are not storefront changes. The storefront shows server-calculated extra prices beside choices, including the current quantity for once-per-line pricing. The complete total remains in the summary below the options.
| Type | Use it for | Validation |
|---|---|---|
| Text | Names, short engraving or personalization | Required and maximum length |
| Textarea | Longer instructions | Required and maximum length |
| Number | Customer-entered measurements or counts | Numeric value and optional minimum/maximum |
| Checkbox | A single optional extra | Checked or unchecked |
| Radio | One choice shown directly | A saved choice value |
| Select | One choice in a dropdown | A saved choice value |
| Color — Pro | Labeled color choices | Valid swatch and saved choice |
| Image — Pro | Labeled visual choices | An image from the local media library |
| Date — Pro | A calendar date | Valid date and optional earliest/latest date |
| File upload — Pro | One customer file per field | Allowed format, actual file content and size |
Labels must tell customers what to enter. Give radio/select choices meaningful names rather than relying only on color or imagery. A number field does not automatically change the product quantity; it is an option value.
